Group Super Junior let out screams of joy when they won once again the Golden Disk Daesang.
Super Junior (Yesung, Kangin, Shindong, Sungmin, Eunhyuk, Donghae, Siwon, Ryeowook, and Kyuhyun) received the Daesang in the category of albums for their album, Sexy, Free & Single at the 27th Golden Disk Awards in Kuala Lumpur held at the Sepang International Circuit in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia on January 15. It’s Super Junior’s third time receiving the Golden Disk Daesang. They previously received the Daesang in 2009 and 2011 with Sorry Sorry and Mr. Simple respectively. They have become the winner of Daesang once again this year. They confirmed that they are the best group in Asia when they also received the Bonsang and the Southeast Asian award becoming the triple crown winner. We met with Super Junior who was on the stage embracing each other and enjoying the happiness.
Tell us your feelings on receiving the Daesang.
“It’s really priceless because I feel like we received the reward from last year’s promotion. I’m also happy that we've become the triple crown winner. Our member, Kangin received the Daesang at the Golden Disk Awards for the first time. It’s meaningful for us to receive this precious award one day before Kangin’s birthday which is on the 16th.” (Eunhyuk) .
Kangin, you must be really happy today.
“When our name, Super Junior was called, so many emotions went through me that I almost cried. While I was happy to receive the award, I also missed Leeteuk and Heechul hyung who are currently serving in the military. I was curious about how they felt when they received the award without me. I had so many feelings that I was about to cry when Siwon shouted, ‘hyung, why are you crying!” After that, I didn't feel like crying anymore. Haha. It’s my first time receiving the Daesang with the other members so I want to keep the trophy.” (Kangin)
You were able to receive the Southeast Asian Award thanks to your fans overseas.
“I heard that Malay fans as well as other fans overseas voted for us until their fingers hurt. I’m thankful to them for always cheering us passionately.” (Sungmin)
Do you have a message for the other members that couldn't be here today?
“It’s very unfortunate that they couldn't be here with us today. Next time, it would be good to receive a great award like this again when all of the members are present.” (Siwon)
What are your plans for this year?
“Super Junior is preparing for a special concert, ‘Super Show.’ We are working hard brainstorming ideas to show a new and cool side to our fans. We are planning to meet our fans overseas that we weren't able to meet before. So please look forward to that. Also, please give lots of love to Super Junior’s unit in China, Super Junior-M’s (Siwon, Donghae, Eunhyuk, Sungmin, Ryeowook, Kyuhyun, Zhoumi, and Henry) second album, Break Down. We want to hog all the love from our fans with our active promotions in the future.” (Yesung)
